FOR RELEASE: Monday, August 15, 2005
Huntington, Ind. " The Huntington University Peer Award has been passed on for the month of August. The July recipients, Cindy Vezeau and Connie Updike, passed their awards on to Mrs. Jodi Fiedler and Dr. Karen Jones, respectively. The Peer Award at Huntington University was established to promote and acknowledge the outstanding efforts of faculty and staff. Jodi Fiedler receives the August Peer Award from Cindy Vezeau.
Vezeau passed her award to Jodi Fiedler, the administrative assistant to the Dean of Christian Faith and Life in the Campus Ministries Office. Fiedler has served at Huntington University for nine years.
Jodie has exceptional organizational skills and a wonderful ability to handle many details, Vezeau said. She also has a good rapport with students. I know her gifts are a tremendous asset to Huntington University. Personally, I have enjoyed working with Jodi over the past several years volunteering in the College Park high school ministry. When planning events, Jodi takes care of so many details behind the scene. She has a heart for students and a desire to see them grow in Christ. It is a blessing to serve and work with her.
Karen Jones receives the August Peer Award from Connie Updike.
Updike passed her award on to Dr. Karen Jones, associate professor of ministry and missions. Jones has served at Huntington University for eight years.
Karen is a valued friend and colleague, Updike said. She is diligent in using her abilities and talents to lead others, especially youth in growing faithfulness to God.
Updike cited Jones' servant leadership in leading a group of high school students on a recent World Changers project in a small Romanian village. Updike also added her appreciation of Jones' contributions in helping develop Huntington University's new Recreational and Sports Ministry major.
Karen's commitment to youth ministry is an inspiration to others and is exemplified through her dedication and efforts in directing students in their field ministry immersion experience at the University, Updike added. Karen's service to youth and the University and her support of friends and colleagues is invaluable.
Fiedler and Jones will pass their awards on to two other individuals from another department in September. For more information about the Huntington University Peer Award program or to view past award recipients, visit http://www.huntington.edu/hr/peeraward/default.htm.
