Fisher helps lead new CCCU campus ministry programs

Huntington, Ind. "Huntington College's Dean of Christian Faith and Life, Bill Fisher, has recently been selected to serve as a leader for several new programs established by the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). The CCCU was recently awarded a grant allowing for the creation of several new programs, including a new summer institute program. Fisher will serve as one of the lead Campus Ministry program auditors as well as co-director of the new Summer Institute for Campus Ministry. The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust of Vancouver, Wash., provided $186,500 to the CCCU for use in its Leadership Development and Spiritual Formation Program.
The Murdock grant, to be spread throughout three years, will focus on the professional development of CCCU campus ministers and chaplains. The grant program will include a campus ministry audit program to help campus ministers focus efforts on programs with maximum reach and will cover the costs of a feasibility study for the creation of a Center for Spiritual Formation for Christian colleges and university campuses.
The grant will also fund the first annual Summer Institute for Campus Ministry this upcoming year at Camp Casey Conference Center on Whidbey Island in Washington State. It will be a five-day introduction to the philosophy and practice of ministry for today's college and university students. Topics include spiritual development, models of spiritual formation, how to design learning environments, spiritual mentoring, the spiritual life of a campus ministry practitioner, and other topics pertinent to the work of campus ministry on Christian colleges and universities.
