Forester Lecture to address global warming

Huntington, Ind. " Dr. Richard Carhart, Professor Emeritus of Physics at the University of Illinois-Chicago, will open the spring semester's Forester Lecture Series at Huntington College on Monday, February 3, 2003. Carhart's lecture, Global Warming, Alternate Energy, and the Christian Worldview, will be held at 7 p.m. in the Merillat Centre for the Arts main auditorium. Dr. Carhart, currently a consultant for Argonne National Laboratory and a speaker on the lecture circuit, has published and spoken widely on the subject of environmental physics. He is an expert in nuclear energy and atmospheric science.
The lecture will attempt to answer some difficult questions including:
As our society is warned of the dire affects of global warming amid continued use of fossil fuels in our cars and factories, what are the documented patterns of atmospheric change, and what factors have contributed to them?
If we simply stop using fossil fuels, how will we power our advanced society?
What are our Christian responsibilities toward the environment, and can the Bible help us respond to concerns about global warming and the continued calls for
alternate energy?
The public is cordially invited to attend the lecture, free of charge. The Forester Lecture Series, presented each semester, are free, public lectures designed to bring interesting persons and topics to the attention of students and the regional community.
