Forester Night honors students, faculty

Huntington, Ind.-The 39th annual Huntington University Forester Night celebrated the accomplishments of students from across campus, as well as the recognition of the Foresters of the Year, the Alpha Chi Award and the Professor of the Year. The event was held May 4. Amos Rawley, a Bible and religious studies major from Greencastle, Pa., was named the Male Forester of the Year, and Katie Aeschliman, a public relations major from Stryker, Ohio, was named the Female Forester of the Year. Foresters of the Year are voted on by the Huntington University student body. Recipients were awarded plaques.
Claire Bates, a psychology major, from Bloomfield Hills, Mich., was honored with the prestigious Alpha Chi Award, given by the vote of fellow members to the outstanding graduate in the Indiana Beta chapter of Alpha Chi Honor Society at Huntington University.
Dr. Tim Smith, assistant professor of history, was named the 2010 Professor of the Year. Smith joined the faculty in 2007, having previously taught at the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom. He is the author of "Britain and the Origins of the Vietnam War 1943-50" (2007), and he has also published a number of articles in leading journals and for the BBC.
Twenty-one seniors were also honored by their respective departments with the Outstanding Senior Awards. The Outstanding Senior Awards are voted on by faculty. Recipients were presented plaques for their accomplishments at Forester Night.

Claire Bates, a psychology major, from Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
Leslie Malkemus, a psychology and sociology double major from Cambridge City, Ind.
Melissa Keighin, a social work major from Carlock, Ill.
Amber Stephan, a psychology and biology double major from Winamac, Ind.
Scott Cressman, a chemistry major from Sturgis, Mich.
Joshua Fitzgerald, a math education major from New Haven, Ind.
Justin Wentz, a graphic design major from Greencastle, Pa.
Cevin Thornbrugh, a digital media arts major from Hamilton, Ind.
Patrick Harding, a music business major from Avilla, Ind.
Alicia Bonham, a theater performance major from Upland, Ind.
Julie McCoy, elementary education and middle grades language double major, from Fort Wayne, Ind.
Bethany McGraw, an exercise science major from Perrysburg, Ohio.
