Foundation Breakfast to feature the community impact of HU students

HUNTINGTON, Ind.- Every year, Huntington University students spend hundreds of hours volunteering in the community. At the April Foundation Breakfast, Grace McBrayer, director of first year students and volunteer services, will explain the service opportunities available to students and how they are making an impact in the community and around the world. The breakfast will be held on April 13.The Huntington University's Joe Mertz Center for Volunteer Service is a student-directed organization that mobilizes the campus community for Christian service. The Joe Mertz Center involves students in the local community, instills a lifelong tendency toward service and promotes the idea that one person can make a difference.
Founded in 1992, the Joe Mertz Center has become and integral part of Huntington University campus life. Many students, faculty and staff give generously of their time and talents to serve. More than 70 percent of resident students are involved in some form of volunteer service, and more than 10,000 hours of labor are contributed by the campus community each year.
The Foundation Breakfast is open to the public. It will begin at 7:45 a.m. in the Habecker Dining Commons and conclude by 9 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $6. First-time attendees eat free courtesy of Bailey-Love Mortuary.
The Foundation's breakfast is held on the second Wednesday of every month during the school year.
