Gressley, Felker Jones recognized with Peer Awards

Huntington, Ind.-Recipients of the Huntington University Peer Award for the month of February are Jerry Gressley and Dr. Beth Felker Jones. Gary Turner, director of athletics, passed the Peer Award to Jerry Gressley. Gressley serves as director of the physical plant and has been with Huntington University for 19 years.
In recognizing Gressley, Turner said, "Athletics works very closely with a many different departments on campus. Maintenance is one of those areas. I appreciate Jerry and the work that he does with his staff to insure that the Merillat Complex for Physical Education and Recreation and all other athletic and recreational facilities are well taken care of. Whether he is shoveling snow in the winter or directing the many other projects that occur on campus, he always seems to handle each situation calmly, trying to work out the best solution. I appreciate all the work that Jerry does, many times behind the scenes."
Dr. Wayne Priest, associate professor of psychology, passed the Peer Award to Dr. Beth Felker Jones. Felker Jones is assistant professor of Bible and religion and has been with Huntington University for two years.
In recognizing Felker Jones, Priest wrote, "Beth Felker Jones is an outstanding scholar, professor and peer. As evidence for this statement, her first book will be published this spring; she has published an article for a well-known Christian journal and is presently working on another book and article. She cares deeply about her students and her discipline, engages them in critical thinking, and is concerned that they apply what is learned to their lives. While co-teaching a January Term class with her, her investment in her students was apparent, as was her preparation and commitment to helping students grapple with the topic at hand. She is dedicated to contributing to the greater good of this community and displays the necessary give and take to make it function in a healthy fashion. She is a pleasant and engaging colleague. Her interpersonal skills, pleasant demeanor and overall 'healthy' attitude make interactions with her always pleasant. It is indeed a pleasure to count her as one of my colleagues. As if these qualities were not enough, she also invests in her husband and two children when not at work."
