HC Evening at the Opera scheduled for Feb. 1

Huntington, Ind. "Building on the resounding success of last year's hilarious opera scenes and spoofs in Who's Afraid of the Opera?, the Huntington College Music Department will give its second annual HC Evening at the Opera on Friday, February 1, at 7 p.m., in the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

Once again, HC Music Department students venture into the realm of blonde braids and brass breastplates in various scenes of opera, operetta, and musical theatre. Surrounding Mozart's one-act operatic masterpiece, The Impresario, and Seymour Barab's charming one-act children's opera, Little Red Riding Hood, will be scenes and music from The Medium, Tales of Hoffman, La Gioconda, and Cavaleria Rusticana. Theatre and musical direction are provided by HC theatre professors Paula Trimpey, Mike Burnett and Ella Burnett and music professors Janice Fulbright and Marlene Schleiffer.

General admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Merillat Centre for the Arts Box Office by calling (260) 359-4261.

Come prepared to wipe tears and to laugh a lot as the beautiful music of these great shows transports you to another time and place, commented Dr. Janice Fulbright, chair of the Huntington College Music Department.
