‘Holiday Pops’ to bring spirit of season to Huntington

Huntington, Ind.-Northeastern Indiana's most popular and beloved holiday event returns to Huntington University at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 when the Fort Wayne Philharmonic goes on tour throughout northern Indiana. Join Associate Conductor Bradley Thachuk and guest vocalist Tony Didier as they lead the Philharmonic in a colorful presentation of holiday music.
The program, consisting of popular and classical holiday music includes traditional favorites like "Sleigh Ride," "White Christmas," "Winter Wonderland," and other tunes including "The Skater's Waltz" and the "Concert Suite" from "Polar Express."

Guest vocalist Tony Didier returns to the stage with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic after a recent stint as a guest vocalist with the orchestra in a Pops concert featuring Boots Randolph, singing "Mack the Knife" and "Mona Lisa." More recently, Didier accompanied the orchestra in September 2006 for "Classics Rock," the first unplugged concert of the 2006-2007 season. During the day, Didier makes his living teaching ballroom dancing at American Style Ballroom.
Tickets are available by calling Huntington University's Merillat Centre for the Arts Box Office at (260) 359-4261. Ticket prices are $17-$21 for reserved seating, $5 for Huntington University students, discounted by $2 for students 13 and older as well as seniors, and half price for students 12 and younger. This event will be held in the Zurcher Auditorium in the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

The Philharmonic Holiday Pops is a concert tradition begun by the orchestra in 1985 with a single performance that still includes an audience sing-a-long and a selection of family holiday music that transcends all religions. Today, the orchestra performs this holiday masterpiece four times at the Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne and in nine surrounding communities.
Now performing its 62nd season, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic with Music Director Edvard Tchivzhel is a member of the American Symphony Orchestra League and a funded member of Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, the Indiana Arts Commission and National Endowment for the Arts.
