HU music department to present junior/senior recital March 15

HUNTINGTON, Ind. The Huntington University Music Department will present a combined junior/senior recital by soprano Audra Rittenhouse and soprano Sarah Messick at 7:30 p.m. March 15. The free recital will be held in the Longaker Recital Hall of the Merillat Centre for the Arts on campus.

Messick is a senior communication studies major with a minor in music from Lancaster, Ohio. She graduated from Circleville High School where she was a choir member for four years under the direction of Tami Seitz. Daughter of Mike and Ruth Messick, she has been singing all of her life, but it wasn't until her junior year of college that she began studying voice. While at HU, she has participated in "'Tis the Season: A Christmas Celebration" as a featured soloist, a featured performer in Troupe, and will be in the upcoming production of "Side by Side: a Sondheim Review." She has been studying voice under Professor Joni Killian for two years.

Rittenhouse, the daughter of Ray and Brenda Rittenhouse, is a junior Bachelor of Arts in music major with a minor in theatre performance from Huntington, Ind. She graduated from Huntington North High School where she was a member of Varsity Singers for three years. While at HU, she has participated in Women's Chorale and Concert Choir. She has also participated in the Christmas production of "'Tis the Season: A Christmas Celebration" (featured performer), "Guys and Dolls" (Chorus Doll), "Urinetown" (Ensemble) and "The Troupe" (featured performer). She has been studying voice with Professor Joni Killian since her freshman year at HU.
