HU students selected to participate in regional business competition

HUNTINGTON, Ind. Five Huntington University business students will compete in the I-69 Collegiate Innovation Challenge 2012 hosted by the Grant County Economic Growth Council on Feb. 10-12. This regional business competition, held in Warsaw, Ind., will challenge area college students to create a solution to a social problem scenario. The assignment for this year's competition asks students to create a for-profit business solution that helps address the current low college graduate retention rate in east central Indiana.
Attending the competition and representing Huntington University will be Daniel Binkowski, a junior entrepreneurial small business management major from Adrian, Mich.; Rachel Osterholt, a junior accounting and business management major from Portland, Ind.; Will Barone, a senior entrepreneurial small business management major from Woodbridge, Ontario; Doris Walker, a junior entrepreneurial small business management and business management major from Kandern, Germany; and Matt Wilson, a senior business management major from Fort Wayne, Ind. All five representatives were selected by the HU business department faculty.
"These students work well under pressure," said Anita Wickersham, associate professor of accounting and business at HU. "They have demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the entrepreneurial creative mindset in creating a business that benefits the community."
This year's winning team will each be awarded an iPad with the second place team each receiving a reward valued at $100. The third place team will walk away with a reward valued at $50. Each participating team will receive a plaque.
This is Huntington University's fifth year competing in the challenge.
