Huntington College Theatre presents Little Women

Huntington, Ind. "Huntington College Theatre will present Little Women, a Family Christmas Theatre Production directed by Paula Trimpey, at the Merillat Centre for the Arts Studio Theatre December 6-8. Performances will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, 9 p.m. on Friday, and 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday. This timeless classic, presented in a Victorian Christmas setting, includes twelve cast members. The production will not portray the entire story of Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, - the classic which portrays the life of four sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy - but will present a few of the events of the story.
Director Paula Trimpey, Assistant Professor of Theatre at Huntington College, has directed the play with a young audience in mind. Whether you are young at heart or young in age, the play should be an enjoyable light-hearted evening of theatre.
As director, I've chosen to present the play as though the audience were looking at Louisa May Alcott's family photo album, continued Trimpey. Just as we would take pictures of the memorable events in our lives, Louisa May Alcott has done the same with her story of 'Little Women.'
Prof. Mike Burnett joins Trimpey behind the scenes as the Technical Director. Scott Grinstead, a sophomore Theatre-Performance major from Dunbar, W.V., serves at the Props Master; Sarah Stanek, a senior Theatre-Performance/Music double major from Indianapolis, Ind., is the Stage Manager; Josh Scott, a freshman Theatre-Design/Technology major from Eagle, Wis., is the Assistant Stage Manager; and Evelyn White, a junior Theatre-Performance/English double major from Knox, Ind., serves as the Student Costume Designer.
Trimpey joined the HC Theatre faculty roster in 2000. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Costume Design from Wayne State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Messiah College. She is currently working on a Masters in Religion through Concordia Theological Seminary. Trimpey taught theatre for eight years at Dixie College in Utah, and prior to that was the Costume Shop Manager at Pomona College in California. She enjoys spending her summers as a Cutter/Draper for the Utah Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City, Utah (which incidentally won a Tony Award as the best regional theatre in the country).
