Huntington University introduces new staff members

Huntington, Ind.-Eleven new staff members have joined Huntington University in the fall of 2007. Cindy Baker accepted the position of assistant academic advisor for the EXCEL Program for Adults. She most recently served as director of Beds & Britches, Etc., a not-for-profit organization in Columbia City, Ind. She also has been the director of career services and job placement for International Business College. Baker holds a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Indiana University Bloomington.
Beginning in September, Amber Brown will serve as the director of the urban scholarship and mentoring program. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in southern California. Most recently, Brown has been a franchise district manager for H&R Block in Fort Wayne.
As a new admissions counselor, Andrew Clay assumed a territory which includes Michigan and everything west of the Mississippi. He is also assisting with transfer and readmitted students. Clay earned a bachelor's degree in accounting as a Presidential Scholar while graduating summa cum laude. As a student, he was the president of the Investment Club, treasure of Alpha Chi, member of Student Senate, a resident assistant in the residence halls, and also part of the Student Admissions Staff.
Brad Clampitt joined the Technology Services team as the Call Center/computer labs coordinator. He holds a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. Clampitt has worked in the information technology field since 1991, primarily at Lincoln Life and Lincoln Re. Prior to coming to Huntington, he worked at Zimmer, Inc., in Warsaw, Ind., for four years. He has significant experience in the areas of problem management and resolution in a broad range of information technologies.
Melissa Cole began as events coordinator and Advancement Office secretary. She is a 2004 Huntington University graduate with a bachelor's degree in choral education. She has served as a staff accompanist for the Department of Music since 2006 and continues that role in addition to her new position.
April Meyer joined the staff as an admissions counselor. Meyer's recruiting territory includes those counties in Indiana south of Huntington with a focus on Indianapolis, and the states of Illinois and Wisconsin. She earned a bachelor's degree in communication studies from Huntington University and was a Dean's List Scholar. During her time as a student, Meyer was a four-year varsity letter winner for the Forester softball team. Her other activities included Student Admissions Staff, campus ministry coordinator, Student Activities Board, freshman mentor, Lambda Pi Eta member, and marketing/recruiting coordinator for the Master of Education program.
David Pearson accepted the position of maintenance worker. His son, David, also works in the Maintenance Department. The elder Pearson was retired before coming to Huntington.
Bob Sloan is the new digital media arts assistant. He and his wife Christi were the former creators and owners of Coffee D'Vine. The Sloans are involved in offering ministry opportunities in the Huntington area.
Pamela Smalling is the administrative secretary for the Department of Nursing. She formerly served as the secretary/treasurer for Salamonie School in Huntington.
Eric Throne, admissions counselor, took over the territory that includes everything east and south of Indiana with the main focus being on Ohio and Pennsylvania. He graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in mathematics education. Throne coordinated the high school math competition at the university, volunteered with College Park Church's youth group and coordinated "Neighbors," a student-lead volunteer group in the community. He was also a Kappa Delta Pi-Omega Psi officer, member of Preeminence and a campus ministry coordinator.
Kristina Wust joined the Business Office as cashier. She is a graduate of Rogers State College with associate degrees in liberal arts and court reporting. Prior to coming to the university, she served as an insurance specialist/chiropractic assistant at the Huntington Chiropractic Center. She is currently pursuing bachelor's degree in accounting through Huntington's EXCEL Program for Adults.
