Huntington University’s partnership with Questa Foundation grows

HUNTINGTON, Ind.- A growing partnership withQuesta Foundation for Education is making it even easier for students in northeast Indiana to attend Huntington University.Questa Foundation announced today that it will expand its innovative Questa Scholars Program to DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko and Whitley counties this year in addition to Allen County.
The regional expansion of the Questa Scholars Program results from new partnerships between Questa Foundation and several local community foundations in northeast Indiana that involve commitments of more than $600,000 in new funding available for college-bound students this year from DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko and Whitley counties, according to a news release.
The Questa Scholars Program - the nation's only college debt forgiveness program of its kind - offers qualified students forgiveness of up to 50 percent of their Questa Scholars loan if they graduate from college with a 2.75 GPA and choose to live and work in northeast Indiana for at least five years after graduation. Questa Scholars may borrow $20,000 over four years for college, the release said.
This expansion builds on a the existing partnership between Questa Foundationand Huntington University that will forgive an additional 25 percent of a Questa Scholar's loan balance if the student participates in the program and graduates from Huntington University.
"By partnering with Questa Foundation to extend the benefits of the 'payback' program to students from Huntington County, the Huntington University Foundation is acknowledging the critical importance of college attainment for our own local community as well as the broader northeast Indiana community," said Troy Irick, vice president for advancement at HU. "This partnership will help make higher education less of a financial burden and goes a long way toward making a college education a reality for so many more of our local, home-grown students."
