International bookmobile tour to visit Huntington

Huntington, Ind. " Projet Mobilivre-Bookmobile project, a group that tours through Canada and the United States, will travel to the Huntington area on May 14 and 15, 2003. The Bookmobile will be open all day at Huntington College on Wednesday and at the Huntington Public Library on Thursday. They will present a bookbinding workshop, Sewn-on Tapes Binding at the College on Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 p.m., and Album Binding at the library on Thursday from 7-8 p.m. The project travels across North America in a vintage Airstream trailer with many works to exhibit. This year they have 300 new pieces traveling with them. Visitors to the Bookmobile will witness an outstanding collection of book works by a diverse range of artists and writers, in all stages of their careers. The Bookmobile project explores the possibility of crossing boundaries between art, literature, academics and activism within the context of community building.
Projet Mobilivre-Bookmobile project is a grassroots media initiative which is run by the Bookmobile Collective, a dedicated group of volunteers with headquarters based in Montreal, Quebec, and Philadelphia, Pa. Members of the Collective work together, rotating responsibilities throughout the year, to plan the tour. The annual tour is headed by three rotating Tour Guides who travel with the exhibition and give workshops.
