Joe Mertz Center, Red Cross to sponsor blood drive
FOR RELEASE: Sunday, February 3, 2008
Huntington, Ind.-Huntington University's Joe Mertz Center for Volunteer Service and the American Red Cross of Huntington County will sponsor a blood drive that is open to the community from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Feb. 14 in the main nursing lab of the lower level of the Science Hall. Junior Josh Cauhorn, an English education major from Avilla, Ind., regularly gives blood.
"I chose to give blood because it's a super easy way to help people," he said. "All you have to do is sit there and give something that you'll get back without even trying. It doesn't make much sense not to give."
People interested in donating may register online at www.givelife.org.
For those unable to attend this blood drive, the final blood drive of the school year will take place April 15 in the upper level of the Habecker Dining Commons.
Founded in 1992, the Joe Mertz Center for Volunteer Service has become an integral part of Huntington University campus life. During the 2006-2007 academic year, students, faculty and staff volunteered for more than 12,397.5 hours, serving more than 50 families, organizations and programs.
