Johnson, Metzger acknowledged with Peer Awards

Huntington, Ind. "Recipients of the Huntington University Peer Award for the month of January are Amy Johnson and Randy Metzger.

Amy Johnson, left, receives the January Peer Award from Susan Akins.
Susan Akins, registration services coordinator for the EXCEL program, passed the Peer Award to Amy Johnson. Johnson is the mailing services coordinator and has been with the University for 10 years.

In presenting the award to Johnson, Akins said, Amy has been a good friend and co-worker from the first day we met. She is very knowledgeable of her job and always willing to help. She keeps on smiling thru the stressful times in the mail room, which I think is daily. Neither 'rain, sleet, snow nor hail' keeps the mail from going out. Our whole campus is indebted to Amy and her workers. As Matthew 25:21 says, 'Well done good and faithful servant!'

Randy Metzger receives the January Peer Award from Kris Chafin.
Kris Chafin, director of learning assistance, passed the Peer Award to Randy Metzger. Randy is the instructional technology specialist and has worked at the University for 4 years. In recognizing Metzger, Chafin said, Randy has been our technology 'life saver' so many times over the past several years. We all constantly use our computers, but in the Learning Center, with CLEP testing responsibilities, we have added technology needs one week out of every month. When we run into glitches and call for help, Randy is available and competent. He can get the CLEP programs going again when we are in despair. In addition to CLEP, Randy has consistently helped us with Accuplacer and the technology issues related to converting textbooks into electronic format for our students who need them. Occasionally the computer problems aren't our fault, but most of the time it is an issue of being 'technologically challenged.' Under stress I overlook obvious solutions. Randy has never made me feel stupid or that we are bothering him. His patience must be infinite and is greatly appreciated. While I am grateful for the fine assistance provided for us by all the tech services staff, it is to Randy that I feel especially indebted.
