Kohaut to present senior theatre project, ‘Freedom’

Huntington, Ind.-Kristen Lynne Kohaut will present "Freedom" as her senior theatre project at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14 in the Studio Theatre of Huntington University's Merillat Centre for the Arts. There is no admission charge, and the event is open to the public.
Kohaut, a theatre performance major from Mount Olive, N.J., will present "a 30-minute collection of thought-provoking pieces of art that will hopefully shine light on some issues in modern-day Christianity."
"I think we often get so caught up in the man-made rules, system, and order of our religion that we end up missing Jesus," Kohaut said. "Words are empty far too often, minds are blank, and questions are not being asked. As William Shakespeare puts it, 'My words fly up, my thoughts remain below. Words without thoughts, never to Heaven go.' I myself am guilty of falling into the 'religion machine.' It's easy, and it requires no thought. I believe many Christians have several strong and aggressive misconceptions about their faith and have been led astray by false teachers and modern-day Pharisees. I pray for Truth, Himself, to flood the hearts and lives of my viewers and bring freedom."
