Tim Zimmerman & the King's Brass
Tim Zimmerman and The King's Brass provide innovative worship for young and old alike through the "best in sacred brass music." By teaming together, these Christian professionals from around the United States perform their original arrangements as heard on their eight recordings. For more than twenty years, The King's Brass has performed over one hundred concerts each season with three trumpets, three trombones, a tuba, keyboards and percussion. Playing a wide variety of music from Gabrieli to hymn classics, from Handel to jazz spirituals, from Christmas carols to patriotic marches, The King's Brass uses all corners of the concert hall to lift hearts and spirits in praise. Tim Zimmerman, director and founder of The King's Brass, received his graduate degree in trumpet performance from Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland. He currently serves as Artist in Residence and Chairman of the Music Department at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana.

Holiday Pops Concert
Bradley Thachuk is the Philharmonic's assistant conductor, beginning with the 2002-03 season. Thachuk comes to Fort Wayne from the Prince George Symphony Orchestra where he was interim music director. Prior to that appointment he was associate conductor of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and conductor of the opera program at Miami University. He was conducting assistant for the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestras in 2000-2001, and was the 2000 recipient of the prestigious David Effron Conducting Fellowship at the Chatauqua Festival in Chatauqua, New York.

Dr. Thompson gives an HC performance of his Doctoral Lecture Recital on The Songs & Dances of Death by Russian Nationalist composer Modest Mussorgsky. Born of the pathos of a history of oppression, this cycle of five songs speaks of the agony, despair and gentle hope of death in the nineteenth century Russian spirit.

The Life of Galileo
by Bertolt Brecht
Among Brecht's most complex plays, The Life of Galileo consistently refuses easy resolutions to the thorny problems it tackles. Galileo behaves atrociously, stealing credit for other's discoveries, putting his family and friends into grave peril, destroying his inquisitive daughter's spirit, and ultimately recanting in the face of the Inquisition. These actions are never explained away, never justified in the name of the greater good. They are simply presented as the terrible things a great man did to survive in difficult times. Better yet, Brecht allows the opposition " the Church and the scientists who refuse to abandon Aristotelian astronomy " real eloquence in their refutations of Galileo.

Dr. Daryl Elliott
"Milton Wright, the Wright Brothers, and the Religious Origins of American Aviation"
Dr. Elliott is the Senior Pastor at Fountain United Brethren Church and is a Trustee of Huntington College. Dr. Elliott received a doctoral degree from Drew University (NJ) and has written on Bishop Milton Wright of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ and his sons, Orville and Wilbur Wright. In this presentation, he will detail the considerable legacies of Bishop Wright in American religion and aviation. The Wright household served as a meeting ground between the Christian faith and advanced technology. Dr. Elliott will tell the story of how the Wright Brothers built upon a deep heritage of faith, challenged the limits of knowledge, and changed the future of the human race.

David Herb
"U.S. Space Program: Past, Present, and Future"
David Herb is the Construction Engineer and Construction Manager at the NASA Glenn Research Center. Mr. Herb will visit the Huntington College campus as part of NASA's Community and Media Relations program. He has assisted with the design and implementation of aeropropulsion, microgravity, and communications technologies for the U.S. space program in his capacity as a test engineer at the NASA Glenn Research Center. He will address the recent history and current status of American space initiatives and provide insight into the complex nature of research, development and deployment of the next generation of NASA technologies.

Dr. A. A. Harrison
"The Right Stuff: From Kitty Hawk to Mars"
Dr. Albert Harrison is a Professor of Psychology at University of California, Davis. He is author of numerous books, most recently Spacefaring: The Human Dimension. He has conducted extensive research on next-generation space missions, including a return to the Moon and initial human exploration of Mars, and recently received a large grant from NASA to investigate ways of integrating behavioral health research with flight operations. His presentation will speak to the biological and psychological demands of extreme flight conditions and the future prospects for human exploration of deep space.

Dr. Warren Rogers
"Life Elsewhere in the Universe: A Scientific and Religious Exploration"
Dr. Rogers is an Associate Professor of Physics at Westmont College (CA). His research in the area of nuclear physics has earned him grants from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy. He will respond to the issues in the film Contact, which will be shown campus-wide prior to the event. The film is based on Carl Sagan's novel of the same title and explores the intersection between faith and discovery. Dr. Rogers' presentation will engage issues related to deep space exploration and the search for life beyond the earth, particularly the question, "Does the potential discovery of life beyond earth pose any problems for the Christian worldview?"
