‘Mediated’ author to speak at Huntington University

Huntington, Ind.-The Huntington University Forester Lecture Series will feature Dr. Thomas de Zengotita, a residential scholar at Dalton University and adjunct professor at New York University, on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. De Zengotita will discuss how new media has transformed American life. He is the author of "Mediated: How the Media Shapes Your World and the Way You Live in It," which won the Marshall McLuhan Award for outstanding book in the field from the Media Ecology Association.
De Zengotita received a Ph.D. in anthropology from Columbia University. In addition to his academic roles, he serves as a contributing editor of Harper's Magazine. As contributing editor, de Zengotita has penned such articles as "She'll Kill Bill While You Chill" and "The Gunfire Dialogues: How Media Influences Children Prone to Violence."
Huntington University presents the Forester Lecture Series each semester. The lectures are designed to bring interesting people and topics to the attention of students and the regional community. All lectures are open to the public and free of charge.
