Michel to exhibit piece in Artlink show

HUNTINGTON, Ind. An upcoming exhibit at Artlink in Fort Wayne will feature a piece from Huntington University art assistant professor Barb Michel. In this Regional University Exhibition, visual art faculty from Huntington University, IPFW and the University of Saint Francis are displaying one piece of their artwork. Michel will display a silk screen print. The show will run from Jan. 25 through Feb. 27 with the opening reception at 6 p.m. Friday. Artlink is located at 300 E. Main St. in Fort Wayne.
Michel earned her bachelor's degree in commercial advertising and art education from Purdue University. She later went on to receive her master's degree in education from Indiana University in Indianapolis and then a Ph.D. in art education curriculum and instruction from Purdue.
She has won numerous awards for her work as an art educator. Before joining the HU art department, she taught secondary visual arts for 12 years at the public school level. She has presented at state and local art education conferences, and she serves as the faculty adviser for HU's student art education chapter.
