Raymond, Smith receive October Peer Award

Huntington, Ind. - The Huntington University Peer Award recipients for October were Scott Raymond, executive director of student success, and Ashley Smith, assistant director for media relations.

The Peer Award, which began in 2003, promotes acknowledgement and recognition of the outstanding efforts of Huntington University faculty and staff members. Award winners are chosen and recognized each month by fellow peers.

Raymond was recognized by Mike Frame, associate director of athletics and head baseball coach. Frame said that Raymond "has an incredible heart for our students and their success at HU." He described Raymond as a "tireless advocate for our students."

"He also has a wonderful compassionate heart for our Lord. Many times he has been an encouragement to me," Frame added. "He makes a life impacting difference on our campus on a daily basis."

Raymond has been employed at Huntington University for two years.

Smith was recognized by Jay Duffer, assistant professor of theatre arts. Duffer said that Smith "has been a positive presence on this campus since she first began working with our department last year. The first thing you will notice is her smile. That smile emanates a 'can do' attitude!"

"I enjoy working with Ashley on all our theatre projects; whether she is getting press releases out or shooting our theatrical production photos. She is respectful, dependable, enthusiastic and highly motivated," Duffer said.

Smith joined the Huntington University staff in March.
