Huntington, Ind. "The Huntington University Peer Award has been passed on for the month of June. The May recipients, Mrs. Barbara Thompson and Dr. Ann McPherren, passed their awards on to Mrs. Sylvia Reed and Dr. Steve Holtrop, respectively. The Peer Award at Huntington University was established to promote acknowledgment and recognition of the outstanding efforts of faculty and staff. Mrs. Barbara Thompson presents the June Peer Award to Mrs. Sylvia Reed.
Thompson passed her award to Sylvia Reed, administrative systems coordinator in the Technology Services department at Huntington University. Reed has served at Huntington for 23 years. In presenting the award to Reed, Thompson stated, I have known Sylvia since coming to the college in 1987. She has been very helping in and accommodating in assisting with requests, especially as it relates to the CARS system. Her experience and expertise in this area are invaluable to Huntington University as she provides support to the various offices across campus. Sylvia is a caring, dedicated and committed employee. Her example of faithfulness to Christ, Huntington University and the community is appreciated.
Dr. Ann McPherren presents the June Peer Award to Dr. Steve Holtrop.
McPherren passed her award to Dr. Steve Holtrop, associate professor of education and associate dean for graduate and adult studies at Huntington. Holtrop has served at Huntington for 13 years. In recognizing Holtrop, McPherren commented, Steve is a true servant leader. I have appreciated working with Steve on a variety of projects and committees over the past several years. He has a deep regard for other people and uses his ability to empathize on a regular basis. Steve works tirelessly on difficult projects and sees them through to successful completion. Steve is always willing to take on a new challenge-whether menial or major. McPherren added she is also grateful for Holtrop's work this year in leading Huntington's re-accreditation process with the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and for his competence and humor as he serves with her on the Academic Concerns Committee.
Reed and Holtrop will pass the Peer Award to two new recipients from another department for the month of July. For more information about the Huntington University Peer Award, visit www.huntington.edu/hr/peeraward.
