Senior music majors celebrated at recitals

HUNTINGTON, Ind.-The Huntington University Music Department invites members of the community to celebrate two graduating music majors for their senior recitals on March 25 and April 1. Both recitals will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Longaker Recital Hall in the Merillat Centre for the Arts at Huntington University.

Tana Denning of Lansing, Mich., is a senior piano performance major with an emphasis in piano pedagogy. She has played the piano for 14 years and the violin for nine years and is currently studying piano with Dr. Patricia Spedden at Huntington University. While at HU, she has participated in Huntington University's orchestra on violin, handbell choir and percussion in Wind Ensemble. In Spring 2010, she performed a junior recital as part of her graduation requirements. Denning was also selected to perform in the Longaker Honors Recital in 2008 and in the Concerto Concert Competition in 2009. She will graduate in May and plans to pursue a master's degree in piano pedagogy. Denning's recital will be held on March 25.

Brittany Lensing is a senior Bachelor of Arts music major from Cresco, Iowa. She has played the piano for 16 years. While at home in Iowa, she studied piano with Barb Larson. Lensing has played the violin for 11 years, and studied with Diane Lingen from her hometown. While at Huntington University, she has studied piano with Dr. Patricia Spedden and Kelly Freije and violin with Elizabeth Smith. Lensing was chosen to perform in the Longaker Honors Recital in the spring of 2009 as well as April of this year. She has participated in the Huntington University handbell choir, percussion in the HU wind ensemble and currently plays violin for the HU orchestra. Lensing will perform on April 1.

The recitals are free and open to the public.
