Smith, Lynn to present string chamber music concert at Warsaw church

HUNTINGTON, Ind.- Violinist Elizabeth Smith and cellist Robert Lynn will appear together at the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw at 2 p.m. March 6. They will present a program of string chamber music.

Smith is concertmistress of the Huntington University Chamber Orchestra where she also teaches violin, aural skills, class piano and music theory. Born in Northampton, England, she received degrees in music from York and Cambridge universities before teaching for 10 years at the Academy of St. Thomas while also performing steadily in chamber ensembles and orchestras. She and her husband, Dr. Tim Smith, moved to Indiana in 2007 and are both faculty members of Huntington University.

Robert Lynn is the director of instrumental studies at Huntington University. He has degrees from William Jewell College, Truman State University and Ball State University in both tuba and cello. He has performed with the Manchester Symphony Orchestra, the Manchester College Symphonic Band and the Ball State Symphony Band on tuba and cello as the principal in his section as well as soloist. He is married to Debra Lynn, choral director and music department chair at Manchester College.

The Rodeheaver Series for the Performing Arts, which is this concert's sponsor, was established in 1990 to support and foster performing arts and artists in a manner which brings glory to God. Named for the Rodeheaver family, legendary for their development and support of Christian music and long-time members of First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, the Rodeheaver Series has sponsored more than 75 concerts, recitals and theatrical presentations.

The performance is free of charge, and the public is invited to attend. First United Methodist Church of Warsaw is located at the corner of Indiana and Market Streets in downtown Warsaw. It is handicap accessible and provides listening assistance.
