Students to Dedicate Habitat House

HUNTINGTON, IN MAY 1, 1996 --- Huntington College students will dedicate a home they built for a local family on Sunday, May 5, at 4 p.m. The public ceremony will be arranged by Huntington College's Joe Mertz Center for Volunteer Service and the Huntington chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

The home, located at 831 Fredrick Street in Huntington, was built thanks to a year-long effort by Huntington College students. College volunteers raised over $10,000 and provided construction labor for the project.

Several college students, faculty and staff will participate in the dedication service. Bill Fisher, Dean of Christian Faith and Life at Huntington College, will bring a short devotional message and offer a blessing. Students will offer readings and prayers. Cindy Goedesky of the Huntington County chapter of Habitat for Humanity will introduce the recipient family and present them with the keys and a Bible.

Habitat for Humanity is one of many organizations, churches, and individuals helped this year by college volunteers. Huntington College students, faculty and staff have contributed nearly 10,000 hours of volunteer and community service through the school's Joe Mertz Center.
