Taylor, Ruiz honored with January Peer Awards

Huntington, Ind.-Recipients of the Huntington University Peer Award for the month of January are Linda Taylor and Matthew Ruiz. Margaret Pasko (right) gives the Peer Award to Linda Taylor.
Margaret Pasko, administrative assistant to the vice president for student development, passed the Peer Award to Linda Taylor. Taylor is alumni and church relations coordinator and has been with the university for 19 years. In recognizing Taylor, Pasko said, "Linda Taylor is our alumni guru. The alumni are a very valuable part of our 'HU family,' and we appreciate her coordination of the activities that happen during Homecoming. She has worked in many areas on the staff at the university and is a valued member of our community. Her friendliness and Christ-centered life are an example to all who know her. Thank you, Linda, for your dedicated service to Huntington University."

Dr. Terrell Peace, professor of education and director of graduate and undergraduate teacher education, passed the Peer Award to Matthew Ruiz. Ruiz serves as instructor in exercise science and has been with HU for one year. In recognizing Ruiz, Peace wrote, "Matthew has worked as hard as any new faculty member I have seen in 20 years in higher education. Because we are in the same division, I have been able to observe his work in revitalizing the exercise science program almost since the day he stepped on campus. He has had the responsibility to revise curriculum and create new curriculum in a way that very few new faculty are asked to do. Matthew has been diligent in his task with one goal in mind, to have a strong, viable exercise science program at HU. I salute Matthew for his commitment and diligence."
