Theatre troupe to finish tour to a Welcome Home audience

Huntington, Ind. " After traveling through eight states and to one other country while performing 46 times, the cast of Huntington College's Cotton Patch Gospel will close its Midwest tour in front of familiar faces on Saturday, August 9. The curtain will open one last time at 7 p.m., in the Merillat Centre for the Arts main auditorium at Huntington College, as a welcoming home crowd will watch the enthusiasm and talents of the ten cast members. Admission is free.

I think that many people are being touched by this show, and that is causing people to see the life of Christ in a different light, said cast member Tyler Radcliff. It is my prayer that God continue to bless this ministry, and more importantly that He would be blessed.

The public is cordially invited to attend this off-Broadway smash hit that has been billed as the greatest story ever retold. The toe-tapping musical is a delightful adaptation of the Gospels of Matthew and John set in rural Georgia. The high-energy production is sure to please audiences young and old.

There wasn't a moment when my foot wasn't tappin' and my hands weren't clappin', wrote one audience member from Franklin, Pa. What a gift each of the cast members have, and to share it with us is awesome!

Cotton Patch Gospel offers a fresh-yet-faithful look at the life of Jesus Christ and His disciples. The show presents the Good News with warmth, humor and the exuberant joy of the Christian life.

With bluegrass music by Harry Chapin and script from Tom Key and Russell Treyz, Cotton Patch Gospel has been specially adapted for tour this summer by Dr. Don Rainbow, creator of Doc Rainbow's Colorful All-Star Revue which toured the Midwest in the mid-1990's.

Throughout their travels, the cast members have been able meet and minister to many people. I couldn't believe God would use our show in such a way to comfort people, shared cast member Drew Wutke.

To accommodate the cast members from place to place, each host church would set up various church members to house a couple cast members. This offered a great opportunity for the cast to get to know many people and be able to share with them God's love.

All of our host families thought that we were doing them a favor, said tour manager Josh Kesler, but in their hospitality, they revealed a new aspect of Christ to us everyday.
