Troy Irick appointed Vice President for Advancement

Huntington, Ind. "Troy Irick has been appointed as Vice President for Advancement at Huntington University, effective today. The board of trustees approved Irick for the position at the annual fall meeting.

The board applauded Troy for his work over the last several years and felt strongly that he would capably lead our fund raising and friend raising efforts. I, too, have complete confidence in Troy and his leadership. I look forward to working with him, said President G. Blair Dowden.

Irick has served as the Interim Vice President for advancement since September 1, 2005. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Vice President for Advancement for the Christian liberal arts university. For the past three years, he has managed the day-to-day fund-raising operations at the institution, including major gifts, gift planning, and relations with alumni, parents, and the community.

Irick said his goals for in his new position include continuing to develop an increased awareness of, and an understanding for, reasons to support Huntington University and Christian higher education; continuing to serve donors with a commitment toward stewardship; and working to grow in our ministry focus to our alumni, friends, parents and numerous other supports.

Irick graduated from Huntington College (now Huntington University) in 1985, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business with concentrations in accounting and economics. He spent eleven years as a certified public accountant and five years in corporate management prior to joining the university administration. Irick said these experiences prepared him well for service on the Huntington University leadership team.

Irick is an active member of the local community. He served on the Huntington County Community School Board from 1997 to 2001, including a term as president during the 2000-2001 school year. He also served on the Huntington City Board of Public Works and Safety and was a member of the City of Huntington's Common Wage Committee. He has been an instructor for Junior Achievement, and has taught as an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech State College and Huntington University.
