UB Historical Society annual events

HUNTINGTON, IN---The United Brethren Historical Society Banquet and Annual Meeting will be held in the Habecker Dining Commons on the campus of Huntington College at 6:00 p.m. on June 29, 2001. Members of the public are welcome to attend even if not a historical society member. The featured speaker this year will be Luke Fetters, former missionary to Macao and current Assistant Professor of Educational Ministries at Huntington College. His topic will be Sovereign Foundations and Educational Antecedents to the Hong Kong Conference, Church of the United Brethren in Christ. Rev. Fetters will relate the history of the United Brethren work in China preceding the Hong Kong Conference. The annual meeting will take place immediately following the banquet. The cost for the banquet is $12.00 for historical society members and $14.00 for non-members. On Saturday, June 30 the society will host a historical tour of United Brethren sites in the city of Huntington, Indiana led by Dr. Howard Cherry. For over one hundred years the city of Huntington has served as the headquarters of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ and its higher education institution, Huntington College. Sites to be visited include the former headquarters and publishing house, the campus of Huntington College, and locations around the former Ubee (College Park), Indiana. The tour will commence at 9:00 a.m. on the Alumni Plaza in front of Becker Hall on the campus of Huntington College. The tour is free and reservations are not required.
