Vezeau, Updike receive July Peer Awards
FOR RELEASE: Monday, July 18, 2005
Huntington, Ind. "The Huntington University Peer Award has been passed on for the month of July. The June recipients, Sylvia Reed and Dr. Steve Holtrop, passed their awards on to Cindy Vezeau and Connie Updike, respectively. The Peer Award was established at Huntington University to promote acknowledgment and recognition of the outstanding efforts of faculty and staff. Mrs. Sylvia Reed presents the July Peer Award to Mrs. Cindy Vezeau.
Reed passed her award to Cindy Vezeau, data management coordinator in the Office of Advancement. Vezeau has served at Huntington for seven years.
Cindy serves in an important role as liaison between Technology Services and the Advancement staff, Reed stated. If anyone in the Advancement Office needs a report or screen modification or has need of any data extraction from the CARS/Jenzabar database, Cindy is excellent at understanding what they need and communicating it to our office in a timely fashion so we have time to complete the project.
She communicates with patience and Christian character and is always appreciative of the time involved with the projects I complete for her office, Reed added. She has a broad understanding of the data in her office and other areas of the campus which helps in completing requests from her staff. Cindy is always positive, friendly and efficient in her work. I appreciate and enjoy working with Cindy.
Dr. Steve Holtrop presents the July Peer Award to Prof. Connie Updike.
Holtrop passed his award to Connie Updike, assistant professor of recreation management. Updike has served at Huntington for 17 years.
Connie is a caring friend and a committed co-worker, Holtrop commented. Connie's dedication to her work and her leadership duties is inspiring, and her wise insights are based on her many years of self-sacrificing work and keen understanding of others. I have appreciated working with Connie on the Academic Concerns Committee and the Assessment Task Force. I have greatly valued her service as my Division Chair. I find Connie's kindness, servant leadership, willingness to take on new responsibilities, and caring insights to be a great example and inspiration.
Vezeau and Updike will pass their awards on to two individuals from another department for the month of August. For more information about the Huntington University Peer Award program or to view past award recipients, visit http://www.huntington.edu/hr/peeraward/default.htm.
