Woods, Smith receive university’s Peer Awards
FOR RELEASE: Monday, May 26, 2008
Huntington, Ind. "Recipients of the Huntington University Peer Award for the month of May are Sharon Woods and Dr. Timothy Smith. Cindy Baker, EXCEL program assistant academic coordinator in Whitley County, passed the Peer Award to Sharon Woods. Woods is director of financial aid and has been with the university for 21 years. In recognizing Woods, Baker said, It certainly did not take me long to discover what a wonderful person Sharon Woods is. Not only is she extremely competent in her duties as the director of financial aid for the university, I also have found her to be one of the most encouraging and fun people I have the opportunity to work with on a daily basis. Not only does she encourage me on a professional level, she is also willing to take an interest in my personal life and encourage me there as well. She is very genuine and giving, and I am so blessed to have developed a strong working relationship with her.
Kris Chafin passes the Peer Award to Dr. Timothy Smith.
Kris Chafin, director of learning assistance, passed the Peer Award to Dr. Timothy Smith. Dr. Smith is assistant professor of history and has been with Huntington for one year. In recognizing Smith, Chafin wrote, Dr. Smith has been a wonderful addition to the History Department this year. I have admired his punctuality and organization as we have worked with him with several students. He has been particularly kind and caring and creative with one of his students, who is not a history major, who has some unusual and difficult learning obstacles. Dr. Smith has gone far above and beyond what would be expected of a professor in his efforts to accommodate this student. We in the Learning Center appreciate the cooperation of all HU faculty who make accommodations for our students who need them, but wish to recognize Dr. Smith for going the extra mile.
