Pathway to Success Program

Students who have been reviewed by the Admissions Committee and given provisional admittance are placed in the Pathway to Success program. The Pathway program offers support to incoming students to help them adjust to the college environment and develop skills that will help them develop academic success. Pathway students will be placed in one of three levels.

  • Pathway One: Students are enrolled in SS 101 Strategies for Success for 1 credit hour, including a pre-orientation seminar. Students in Pathway One may withdraw from SS 101 after the pre-orientation seminar if they choose not to continue weekly classes. The university recommends that Pathway One students enroll in no more than 15 credit hours, including SS 101. Supportive advising is provided by the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) and the Office of Student Engagement in addition to but not in place of their faculty advisor. 
     
  • Pathway Two: Students are enrolled in SS 101 Strategies for Success for 1 credit hour, including a pre-orientation seminar. Weekly classroom meetings will provide support until the end of the first semester. Student progress is reviewed weekly, and mid-term academic performance will decide if further interventions are needed. The university requires that Pathway Two students enroll in no more than 15 credit hours, including SS 101. Supportive advising will be provided by the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) and the Office of Student Engagement in addition to but not in place of their faculty advisor. 
     
  • Pathway Three: Students enrolled in SS 101 Strategies for Success for 1 credit hour, including the pre-orientation seminar and weekly classroom meetings with added weekly one-on-one meetings for support and skill development. Student progress is reviewed weekly, and mid-term academic performance will decide if further interventions are needed. The university requires that Pathway Three students enroll in no more that 15 credit hours, including SS 101. Supportive advising will be provided by the Academic Center for Success (ACE) and the Office of Student Engagement in addition to but not in place of their faculty advisor.
