Alumni plan Homecoming concert

HUNTINGTON, IN- The Huntington College music department presents Melodies of Memory on Saturday, October 6. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Merillat Centre main auditorium. The performance will feature performances by Huntington College alumni and current students. The Saturday evening concert will be a highlight of Huntington College's homecoming weekend, October 5-7. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. The Huntington College Wind Ensemble will be joined by music alumni to perform The Washington Post March by John Philip Sousa and the B flat Toccata by Girolamo Frescobaldi. The Handbell Choir will be performing an arrangement of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot and the Concert Choir will sing Rockin' Jerusalem arranged by Andre Thomas and Blessed Be the Name of the Lord by Dale Grotenhuis.
Two alumni music groups, One Generation and Wendy and the James Gang, will also perform. Other alumni will offer solo performances. Tim Watson (1974), baritone, will sing The Vagabond from Songs of Travel by Vaughan-Williams. Pianist David Van Tilburg (1973) will play The Great Gate of Kiev from Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Other alumni soloists scheduled to perform are: Kimberly Trisel (1991), soprano; John Richard (1996), piano; Jen Braun Richard (1996), soprano; Stephanie Shultz (1990), flute; Amy Young (1994), French horn; and Tasha Tolan Rothert (1996), alto.
Alumni and student musicians will join to perform the grand finale arrangement, Ralph Vaughan-Williams' For All the Saints.
