Huntington, Ind.-The Huntington University Student Senate will host a Benefit Car Show from 3 to 7 p.m. April 24 on the university campus to raise $20,000 to purchase a new mini-van for the Joe Mertz Center.

The Joe Mertz Center for Volunteer Service is a student-directed organization that mobilizes the campus community for Christian service. Over the years, the van has increasingly needed maintenance.

"Senate strives to meet the needs of students, and this is a great way to help students help others," said HU senior Alex Lute, Student Senate executive secretary.

The registration fee for the Benefit Car Show is $10, and all other donations will be accepted. All donations to the university are tax deductible, including the registration fee. All vehicle makes, models and years are welcome to enter the show. Prizes will be awarded.
