ERC, NIIC present Youth Entrepreneur Symposium

HUNTINGTON, Ind. Through collaboration efforts with the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center in Fort Wayne, the Huntington University Enterprise Resource Center will host a Youth Entrepreneur Symposium from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in the Habecker Dining Commons banquet rooms.

The ERC and NIIC invite high school students from Huntington North High School and Huntington University to partake in this year's competition.

Students will collaborate in groups and invent a new application for Facebook, iPod, iPhone or Androids. This day-long event focuses on creative ideation and is not a business plan competition. Once students create a concept, they must expand their product into a business concept. Each group determines the product, how it is different from other products, how they would make money, who the customer would be and how the customers would use their product. Finally, they decide where and how their product would be sold. At the end of the competition, students will present their ideas with a chance to obtain prizes.

All students will compete in mixed teams of high school and college-aged students.
