EXCEL to offer not-for-profit leadership degree program

Huntington, Ind. "EXCEL Adult Degree Programs at Huntington University has recognized a growing need for training leaders in the non-for-profit sector and has made modifications to address this need.

The Bachelor of Science degree in organizational leadership has been renamed not-for-profit leadership with curriculum adjustments to match. Some of the curriculum changes include a course in grant writing and community interaction.

We are excited by this change and see it as a way for individuals who feel a calling to work in the not-for-profit sector to receive a valuable education with relevant skills, said Dr. Rick Upchurch, director of the EXCEL Adult Degree Programs.

The first cohort for the not-for-profit leadership major will begin in the fall of 2008 in each of EXCEL's three locations: Columbia City, Huntington and Wabash.

EXCEL offers evening classes tailored to the schedule of most working adults. Classes are held one night per week, one subject at a time. Classes last five to eight weeks and lead to an associate degree in organizational management or bachelor's degrees in accounting, business administration, human resource management or not-for-profit leadership.

EXCEL offers classes in Huntington, Columbia City and Wabash. For more information about the EXCEL program, log on to www.hu-excel.com, call (260) 359-4162 or (800) 600-4888, or e-mail excel@huntington.edu.
