HU Adult Program honors students, faculty for overall achievements

HUNTINGTON, Ind. Huntington University's Adult Degree Programs honored seven students and two faculty members on May 12 for their achievements during the year.

The university recognized four students for outstanding academic achievements. The following students were named valedictorian for earning the highest grade point average or salutatorian for earning the second-highest grade point average in their respective degree programs:

Three students also were inducted into the Pinnacle and Spire honor societies during a luncheon for the students. The Pinnacle (four-year) and Spire (two-year) are honor societies that recognize non-traditional students of at least 23 years-old who have a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average and who have demonstrated leadership through community and/or church involvement.

Two faculty members, Scott Druhot and Jim Morrell, were named "Outstanding Faculty" for receiving the most number of votes from the Adult Degree Programs student body based on the criteria that they best represented the program's core values of integrity, student support and student learning.

Huntington University's Adult Degree Programs offers online and evening classes tailored to the schedule of working adults. Onsite classes are held one night per week, one subject at a time in Huntington and Columbia City, Ind. Classes also will be offered in Fort Wayne this fall. Through the Adult Degree Program, HU offers associate degrees in Christian ministry and organizational management in addition to bachelor's degrees in business administration, human resource management, not-for-profit leadership, marketing, accounting and nursing (RN to BSN). A 15-credit hour TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate is also offered in an accelerated format.
