HU students to serve during Friesen Center’s Spring Work Day

HUNTINGTON, Ind. Huntington University's Friesen Center for Volunteer Service is hosting its annual Spring Work Day from 9 a.m. to noon April 12. The theme for this year is "Cinema," a star-studded emphasis for a morning of community outreach. More than 200 student volunteers are anticipated to participate.

More than 20 different locations across Huntington will be serviced by the program. Some of the locations this year include the YMCA, Miller's Merry Manor, the community gardens, Forks of the Wabash, Boys and Girls Club, Love Inc. and a few individual residents homes.

This is the Friesen Center for Volunteer Service's first Spring Work Day under the new name. Formerly the Joe Mertz Center for Volunteer Services, the Friesen Center is a student-directed organization that coordinates HU students in volunteer efforts on a daily basis. The Friesen Center stands to build the idea that every person can make a difference in the community.
