Huntington University collects Easter baskets for SCAN

Huntington, Ind.-The Northeast Indiana Alumni Directors Consortium is hosting its annual Easter Basket Drive through March 31. Easter baskets collected from 10 area colleges and universities, including Huntington University, will be donated to SCAN (Stop Child Abuse and Neglect). SCAN is a not-for-profit organization whose aim is to eliminate child abuse by "preparing parents and protecting children." Established in 1974, the organization serves 13 counties in northern Indiana, including Huntington County.
Last year, more than 1,200 Easter baskets were collected and distributed among the 2,200 families that SCAN serves. This year, SCAN's goal is for each of the 10 participating institutions to collect 200 baskets. The alumni directors will deliver the baskets to SCAN on April 7.
Businesses or members of the community may contribute Easter baskets filled with commercially-wrapped candy items (nothing homemade), toys, books, games, etc. Filled baskets should be wrapped in cellophane bags. Donations of individual items such as bags of candy or small toys also are appreciated and will be used to create baskets.
Baskets and items to fill baskets may be brought to the office of Margaret Roush, director of alumni relations, on or before March 31. Roush's office is located on the second floor of the Administration Annex building on the campus of Huntington University.
