Huntington University reports record undergraduate enrollment

Huntington, Ind. - Huntington University enrolled a record number of traditional undergraduate students this fall and reported its second-largest incoming class in the school's history. The university enrolled 320 new total full-time students, including 263 new freshmen and 57 transfers, this fall, and full-time undergraduate enrollment increased from 949 to 982 students - a more than three percent increase. The freshmen-to-sophomore retention rate also increased by six percent this year - an encouraging factor for the future.
"It is both exciting and humbling that so many people have chosen to invest in an education at Huntington University," said Jeff Berggren, vice president of enrollment and marketing. "I believe the combination of excellent academics and a Christ-centered atmosphere at HU has resonated with families as they seek the best return for their money in higher education."
The total enrollment for fall 2010 is 1,278. This number reflects 1,040 traditional, full-time and part-time undergraduate students (up eight students from 2009), 148 EXCEL Adult Degree Program students and 90 graduate students.
The students this year hail from 20 countries and 35 different states with 60 percent coming from Indiana. Five percent of the student population is ethnic minorities, and this is the largest class of international students (33) in at least two decades.
