Huntington University to host luncheon in Peoria to discuss new campus

HUNTINGTON, Ind. Huntington University is hosting a luncheon on March 9 to update the community on plans to open a campus in Peoria, Ariz. As a special treat, HU's Executive-in-Residence Jim O'Donnell will give a report on the economy and financial strategies for the year.O'Donnell, who started teaching at Huntington in 1994 and now holds Emeritus Status, received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his MBA from Columbia University. O'Donnell is a certified public accountant and spent many years as an executive in the financial services industry with such firms as Fidelity Investments and the Dreyfus Corporation in Boston and New York, respectively.
The luncheon will be held at the Rio Vista Recreation Center, 8866-A West Thunderbird Road, in Peoria at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $11 per person.
Huntington is exploring the opportunity of opening a residential campus in Peoria. The campus would feature programs such as film and animation, exercise science, kinesiology and nursing.
In October, HU entered into a 180-day exclusive negotiating agreement with the City of Peoria to begin talks of what a potential branch campus could mean for both entities. Discussions are ongoing.
