HUNTINGTON, Ind. The Huntington University Peer Award recipients for March are Amy Johnson, mailing services coordinator, and Dr. Matthew Ruiz, associate professor of exercise science.
The Peer Award, which began in 2003, promotes acknowledgment and recognition of the outstanding efforts of Huntington University faculty and staff members. Award winners are chosen and recognized each month by fellow peers.
Johnson was recognized by Sandy Marion, admissions receptionist, because of how helpful she is in her job.
"Admissions has numerous mailings going out, and Amy does her best getting these out in a timely manner," Marion said. "She does a great job keeping the campus informed of any U.S. Postal changes. Amy is a true blessing to the HU community. I appreciate all she does."
Ruiz was recognized by Dr. Kent Eilers, assistant professor of theology, because of his leadership within the faculty and his dedication to his students.
"Beyond his commitment to the faculty, I teach many students from his department and they, not surprisingly, speak glowingly of him: passion for his subject, professionalism, and his tenacity to equip them to enter their field with excellence," Eilers said. "Simply said, Matthew goes above and beyond what is expected of him and those around him, including me, are grateful."
