In the spring of 2008, the Huntington University Foundation launched the Center for Leadership Studies, offering training and resources for leadership development. Dr. Tim Elmore created two curriculums for the center: one values-based and the other faith-based. Elmore says that both incorporate "timeless, biblical leadership principles delivered in an 'EPIC' fashion." "EPIC" stands for "Experiential, Participatory, Image-Rich and Connected." These programs are just one example of Elmore's work in leadership training.
From the boardroom to the classroom, Dr. Tim Elmore develops people to become better leaders. He has taught leadership in corporations such as Chick-Fil-A Inc., HomeBanc, Gold Kist, Home and Garden Party, OTI Consulting, The Duncan Group, The Community Bankers Association, Network 21 International, First Horizons Loans, Puro-First and the Iowa Flex Plan Association.
Through "Growing Leaders," Elmore and his team equip middle school, high school and college students on hundreds of campuses including Duke, Rutgers, USC, Florida State, Biola University, Bethel College, Asbury College and Regent University. Elmore's heart for young leaders grew out of his 23-year experience working alongside his mentor Dr. John C. Maxwell, best-selling author, entrepreneur and speaker.
Elmore has authored 21 books, including the best-selling "Habitudes: Images that Form Leadership Habits and Attitudes," "Mentoring: How to Invest Your Life in Others" and "Nurturing the Leader within Your Child" (Thomas Nelson Publishers). He has appeared on ABC's Family Channel and on national radio broadcasts, casting vision for developing emerging leaders within the next generation in a post-modern world.
Since 1979, Elmore has served on the leadership teams of five organizations. In addition to his role with "Growing Leaders," he is the vice president of leadership development at EQUIP, a non-profit organization founded by Dr. John C. Maxwell. EQUIP's objective is to train 50 million leaders in hospitals, orphanages and faith-based organizations around the globe by 2020, through conferences, training materials, books, DVDs and technology. Elmore has taught leadership in 36 countries, including India, Russia, China, England, Egypt, Lebanon, Australia, Argentina, several countries in Europe and the Philippines. Additionally, he has taught courses or modules on leadership and mentoring in nine universities and graduate schools in the U.S.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Oral Roberts University, and his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Azusa Pacific University.
Elmore lives in Atlanta, Ga., with his wife Pam and his two children Bethany and Jonathan.
