Spring physical education classes at HU open to homeschool students

HUNTINGTON, Ind.- Huntington University's Department of Physical Education is offering a physical education program for children ages 4 through 5th grade this spring.

The department will have nine sessions from February to April. Class time is from 1:15 to 2 p.m. in the field house of the university's Merillat Complex for Physical Education and Recreation. The dates for the sessions are Feb. 24, March 3, March 10, March 24, March 31, April 7, April 14, April 21 and April 28.

This service is available to all area homeschooled children in elementary grades, including students from Huntington and surrounding counties. The class is free to all participants.

Children who attended the PE program last semester do not need to re-register. Those children new to the program will need to arrive a few minutes early on Feb. 24 for registration. Children may join the program at any time throughout the course of the semester.

Huntington University students conducting the elementary physical education class are either physical education majors or elementary education majors. Curriculum development and supervision of the classes are provided by Dr. Jody Davenport, instructor of physical education.
