Thornhill Nature Preserve presents Falconry

HUNTINGTON, IN - Thornhill Nature Preserve will present a program on falconry on May 7, 2002, from 7-8:30 p.m. The event, titled, Falconry: Hunting with a Bird, will describe the history of the art and sport of falconry, as well as its influence on society. Laura Edmonds will present the lecture, including several live birds in the presentation. The program is free and open to the public. Area teachers are especially invited to attend with their students. Edmonds serves as the executive director of Soarin' Hawk Avian Rescue in Leo, Ind. (www.soarinhawk.org). Established in 1996, Soarin' Hawk volunteers combine veterinary science with falconry techniques to rehabilitate injured and orphaned birds of prey.
