Thornhill Nature Preserve presents hawk talk

Huntington, Ind. " Huntington College will present a program on hawks and other birds of prey on February 5, from 7- 8:30 p.m. at Thornhill Nature Preserve. Raptor expert Laura Edmonds will describe hawks' habits and offer tips on how and where to see them. She will include several live birds in her presentation, including a Ruff-legged hawk, an owl, a Red-tail hawk, a Harris hawk, a Kestrel, and a Broad-winged hawk. The program is free and open to the public. Area teachers are especially invited to attend with their students.
Edmonds serves as the executive director of Soarin' Hawk Avian Rescue in Leo, Ind. (www.soarinhawk.org). Established in 1996, Soarin' Hawk volunteers combine veterinary science with falconry techniques to rehabilitate injured and orphaned birds of prey.

Huntington College operates Thornhill Nature Preserve for the educational enrichment of its own students and the regional community.
