Thornhill to host Christmas Star Party

Huntington, Ind. " Thornhill Nature Preserve will offer an evening spent gazing at the stars as it hosts a Christmas Star Party on Friday, December 13, 2002, from 7:30 " 9:30 p.m. Many people have enjoyed watching the especially beautiful night sky this season, but the Christmas Star Party offers a unique opportunity through the cooperation of the Fort Wayne Astronomical Society and Huntington College. The two organizations will provide telescopes so that individuals can take a closer look at their favorite stars and constellations.

A path around the Thornhill Nature Preserve pond will be illuminated for a late night stroll with hot drinks and refreshments provided to ward off the December chill. This festive evening is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted. The event will be called off if rain approaches the area that night.

Huntington College operates Thornhill Nature Preserve for the educational enrichment of its own students and the regional community. The 77-acre property includes a variety of diverse habitats, including evergreen and deciduous forest, a woodland pond, meadows, and wetlands. The diverse ecosystem supports a wide variety of wildflowers, mammals, and birds.
