University music groups to perform Christmas concert

Huntington, Ind.-Music meant to celebrate the spirit of Christmas will be performed by Huntington University's Department of Music. Four groups will present an evening of Christmas music in a shared concert titled "Celebrating the Light." The concert will take place on at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

The Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. Robert Lynn, will perform "Christmas Time" and "From Whom All Blessings Flow," along with other selections. The Women's Chorale, directed by Joni Killian, will perform various pieces including "Jinglin' Bells" and "A Joyful Alleluia." The Handbell Choir, directed by Darlene Burkett, will perform two handbell solos titled "Bring a Torch" and "Good Christian Men, Rejoice." A handbell duet titled "A Christmas Fantasy," along with a handbell quartet titled "A Yuletide Celebration," will be performed. A piano duo, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" with "Joy to the World," also will be presented.
