Upchurch to update community on EXCEL program

Huntington, Ind.-The Huntington University Foundation's Feb. 11 breakfast will feature Dr. Rich Upchurch, director of the university's EXCEL Adult Degree Programs. Upchurch will update the community following his first year at the university and then discuss what the future holds for this growing program.

The breakfast line will open at 7:45 a.m. in Huntington University's Habecker Dining Commons, and the program will end by 9 a.m. The cost of admission is $6 per person, and first-time guests eat free.

EXCEL offers evening classes tailored to the schedule of most working adults. Classes are held one night per week, one subject at a time. Classes last five to eight weeks and lead to an associate degree in organizational management or bachelor's degrees in accounting, business administration, human resource management or organizational leadership.

In addition to his responsibilities with the EXCEL program, Upchurch also directs the university's Center for Leadership. The CFL has developed over the last year and has now found a home in the EXCEL Adult Degree Programs office. The CFL provides leadership training and resources to businesses, community leaders and pastors in northern Indiana.

Upchurch holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Drew University, a Master of Arts in religion and a Bachelor of Arts in biblical literature from Olivet Nazarene University. He completed post-graduate work at Nazarene Theological Seminary. He also has training in online and adult teaching from several providers, including the College Board.

The Huntington University Foundation hosts a monthly breakfast meeting open to a public interested in learning about current issues and Huntington University programs.
