WBCL’s Romania Likewise Project returns to campus
FOR RELEASE: Thursday, August 12, 2004
Huntington, Ind. " For the second time in as many years, Huntington College will serve as an avenue to helping orphans and street children in Romania. The College will serve as a collection site for The WBCL Radio Network's Romania Likewise Project. On Thursday, August 26, the collection of new or gently used winter coats and brand-new boots and shoes for children ages 2-14 will take place at the Merillat Centre for the Arts at Huntington College. Items will be collected from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
We are pleased that Huntington College and WBCL are teaming together to provide this opportunity to benefit Romanian children, Huntington College President G. Blair Dowden said. This is yet another way Huntington College can work with the surrounding communities to impact our world for Christ.
Huntington College will serve as one of eight collection sites for the Romania Likewise Project. The project will kick off on Thursday, August 24, at WBCL Studios in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio. Along with Huntington College on August 26, Anchor Room Bookstore in Fort Wayne, Ind., will collect materials for the project. Collections will continue at WalMart in Auburn, Ind., and McDonald's in Celina, Ohio, on August 31. The collection project will conclude on September 2, at Decatur Bank in Decatur, Ind., and WalMart in Columbia City, Ind.
Any monetary donations sent to the WBCL Likewise Project will be used to cover the costs of the project. WBCL can be heard at 90.3 FM to Fort Wayne and northeast Indiana listeners.
